Reiki was founded in Japan in the early 1900's by Mikao Usui. It is pronounced “Ray-Key” which is the Japanese word for universal life force energy. Rei means universal and spiritual while Ki means life force or vital energy. It is a natural holistic healing practice that triggers the body’s innate self-healing process to restore balance and well-being for all four aspects of self: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Reiki is considered to be a spiritual practice or system that the practitioner channels (tunes in and directs the universal energy) as they lightly place their hands on various positions around the body to support the return of balance to the physical body, the mind, the emotions and the spirit. The energy is drawn by the practitioner as it then flows through them and out their palms being offered to the client.
It can be thought of as a “whole person practice” that is aligned with the laws of nature. It is the fastest growing complementary healing modality in the world and can be found in oncology departments in some of the top hospitals.
Your treatment is a passive experience, as the energy flows according to your needs. I place my hands lightly upon you in various non-intrusive positions following your endocrine system and as where may be needed. You will lie on a massage table fully clothed, and most people begin to relax very quickly. Reiki is very good for:
Sleep disturbances including insomnia
Improving vitality and energy levels
Gives a sense of relaxation, calm, and mental clarity
Improves digestive conditions
Engages the bodies own healing mechanism by reducing stress and engaging the immune system
Physical healing - reducing aches, pains and ailments
Lowers heart rate and blood pressure
I also teach all levels of Reiki; Level 1, Level 2, Level 3A Master and Level 3B Master Teacher. Refer to the Courses Tab for more details. Learning Reiki gives you the ability to heal yourself and those you care for, or to go on and become a practitioner.
